I'm new to all of this so please bear with me I'm thinking about starting my own business as far as lawn care is concerned not sure about what type of mower I knee because all I have now is homeowner grade.

Which type of mower brand should I be looking at I won't be doing a whole lot but still don't want to spend the time but don't want to be too cheap also what prices do you guys charge???

Any advice is more than welcome thank you in advance!!

These questions are not so easy to answer. For what mower you need, what size yards will you be doing? Do you want a walk behind, rider, etc.? As far as prices, that depends on who you are marketing towards, what your experience is, the size yards, etc. So many factors.

LMF is right, to many factors involved without the information that LMF asked and just to add to that is how many lawns are you intending to mow on a weekly basis. As far as prices go there's also a lot of different factors involved in how and what you charge.

Well many smaller residential type lawns roughly .25 area and less! Just your typical small front and slighty larger backs... That being said I'm just starting out using a homeowner grade mower which is fine for now but I k ow I will need something better soon, not servicing but 8 clients now with NO advertising or soliciting, just multiple people just asking for help and no owning a mower or there current lawn care guy being hard to get ahold of!

I will slowly start to go out and pick more up just in my neighborhood and spread out as time goes on

With that being said. I wouldn't worry to much about what lawn mower you get cause it will more than likely just be a self propelled push mower. I would focus more on hand held power equipment ( string trimmer, edger, blower, and hedge trimmer). Pick a good reputable brand. I personally use Stihl. And of course you will need some hand tools.

Well I If were you I'd look in terms of a ZTR. With the size lawns you're looking at and 8 clients and looking for more you can get buy with most any type mower for now but shortly if you add more clients time will become a factor. In lawn-care time equals money. Someone else said or talked about Hand held equipment and I can agree that good equipment and the right equipment can save you time. Not really knowing your budget it's hard to recommend anything. The ZTR in the 36" to 48" range would most likely be the most efficient mower for cut and time savings you could use. If you're a solo operator and want to make money in this business you should be looking to knock down a lawn cut, trim, edged, and blown off in 25 minutes.
