Just got this piece of property about an 1/8 of an acre. The back side behind the house has a steep slope with some rocks and is kind of wet at the bottom. Not enough to invest in a rider, but I'm looking for a powerful self-propelled that could handle the steep hill and not kill me in the process. Looked briefly at the Husky AWD mower but seeing mixed reviews of them. I'm thinking a rugged highwheeled rear drive possibly with swivel fronts might be best. Any one out there have recommendations that won't break the bank?
Thanks,
Earl

How steep are we talkin' about? How much of the area is rocky and steep? 1/8 of an acre isn't much but I am guessing only a fraction of that is "steep and rocky"....

You really do not want swivel front wheels for hills.

For 1/8 acre I would just get a trimmer.
The husqvarna awd is a very good mower.
The thing with reading reviews is most of the bad reviews is user error. And most people that love the mower do not leave a review.

Yeah, I am guessing that only a fraction of his 1/8 acre is this hill/rock terrain, so a good trimmer would do it nicely.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. Yes, you are right, just a small portion of the area is steep. Not good at judging slope, but it is a small portion of the yard and too steep to be pushing a mower up safely. Eventually I'll terrace it and plant something that doesn't have to be mowed. As to the rockiness, not to terribly bad, but outcropping of ledge here and there. It is Vermont after all and rock are almost a cash crop around here as much as they pop out of the ground. Thanks for the comment on the Husky reviews and you're probably right about that. Usually the case with most reviewers. I have access, and probably could buy it from him, of a DR trimmer-mower that I used for years that would probably do nicely both in the hilly spot and the wetness down below. Thanks again.
