I'm having a lot of trouble finding the pre-cleaner foam element for my air filter, Briggs & Stratton part number: 393725.

According to the manual, the foam element is part number 5939 and I purchased one here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283376776427

However, once I got it, it was much to big! Can anyone help me with finding the correct one? I wouldn't worry about it if we wouldn't have so many dry spells in the summer, but it's so dusty that I wouldn't want to run it long without a foam element.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure which numbers are which, but the dealer wrote the engine number as 253707-0159. I also found the numbers 63114961 and Engine number 01 85121910.

I noticed there's more than one engine type included in the manual. Perhaps I was looking at the wrong one and mine doesn't come with a foam element?

IPL does not show a pre-filter for that particular filter.

The filter you posted is for this air cleaner.

Now there is another filter for the following air cleaner that does have a pre-filter.

The 393725 doesn't use a foam wrap, or I have never seen one on that filter. What makes things confusing is that model type list 4 different filters with one being an oil type foam. One being a round cartridge filter with precleaner wrap. And 2 oblong cartridge filters with one using a foam wrap and one without.

So my engine doesn't need one; I'll just have to check it more often and replace as needed. Ya learn something new everyday I guess! Thanks for the information!

That's the one I purchased from Ebay, but it was much too large.

Part number correct, wrong part? That would never happen on anything sold on Fleabay. Go to a good repair shop or dealer for the correct part. Don’t be penny wise, pound foolish.
