Funny thing is most people here also have AC for their houses, as temps in our (somewhat shorter) summer can get up to 35-40C (90-110F). Huge temp swings. But the falls and springs are nice, and like I said, you can dress for the cold. Usually the cold snap only lasts for a couple weeks, then it hangs out around -10C to -20C. If its not windy, that temp is actually pretty bearable.
