We are planning to vant a great bit of our property this coming year and one of them is re-doing the not so amazing driveway that we currently have. Has anyone here had to re-level property before? Is it easier (and better) to DIY or would a professional be better? I am thinking of we can do it why not, then we can get through the process quicker and get onto the landscaping that we have put off for a few years now.

Is your drive rock or gravel ... OR is it paved?
How long is it ?? You can do a short gravel drive with a shovel and a rake.. I wouldn't want to do my drive with any hand tools, I wouldn't live long enough to get it done...
Heavy equipment if you are going to do a lot of reshaping... Smaller equipment if it is less intense..
I really like dirt work, large or small scale it can be fun, just depends how much you have to do... :smile:KennyV

Can't help with the driveway, but as for the yard, we've done some pretty decent sized cuts and fills. The fills are much easier than the cuts.

For the cuts, you need to remove the sod then dig away the soil until it's where you want it, then either replace the sod or reseed. If it's a large area, you may want to find someone with a bobcat or backhoe.

For the fills, just get a load of top soil and fill it in, tamp it down, seed it, and cover it with hay. It will settle, so fill it higher than you want the end result.
