I pulled out my mower (Honda HRR216PKA) to do a quick mow of the front and sides of the lawn. I went ahead and put it back in the garage and just before heading into the house I decided to top it off since it's been a few weeks since I filled it up (I usually fill up the gas after I mow). In the process of filling up the lawn mower, a buddy of mine stopped over and we got to talking. After we talked about 10-15 minutes, I went inside not knowing that I left the gas cap open. Yesterday after I took the wife's car out I noticed that I left the cap open and went ahead and put it back on.
My question is: should I be worried about starting the engine after having the cap open / exposing the gasoline to airborne dust and other debris. I keep the garage relativity clean but there is dust/dirt like any garage floating around. Should I pour out the gasoline into a plastic container? I have not started the engine since. Next weekend I'll most likely need to fire it up to do the lawn again. Thanks for your help!

That is the last thing to worry about, sorry you are going a little overboard here. No harm. That is what the gas filter is for to catch the small particles of dust. Gas straight out of the pump will have small particles in it.
