I was reading another thread about cleaning under shroud to make sure cooling fins can do their job. Sure enough the top grate on my fins were clogged thoroughly! Sorry I didn't take a before picture. Do yourself a favor and check/clean here.
The coil is sitting right above the cylinder and its little transistors can only take 180-250F before barbecued? At least on my Intek they are far from the cylinder head, and bolted to big chunks of iron for heat sinking. But I do not read much here about coil failure on Hondas. Maybe the coils are make differently.

In the spring time before using. Rodents ten to make nest under the shrouds in the winter time. The worst one I had in my shop was a snake got into the flywheel of a rototiller with a small Briggs engine in it.
