Hi all
I’ve got a simple question. Can I change the shaft seal on this engine in my Cub Cadet 1045LT without removing the engine from the mower?

Thanks
George

If you can access it from the bottom side without removing the engine then you can change it without removing the engine.

I regularly do bottom seals in situ
To do it I stand the mower vertical so I can work on it in a comfortable position
Note battery needs to come out & fuel tank cap blocked off.
Usually put a couple of self tappers in the seal & then use a claw hammer or wrecking bar to pull the seal out by the screws.
BEfore you start note the exact depth that the old seal sits .
I try to set the new one jus a little deeper so the lip is running an a fresh surface.
The caveat on this is that the seal can not obstruct the oil hole .

and be sure the seal doesn't roll over or pooch out on the inner seal next to the shaft, occasionally that will happen and if not caught can start leaking it.
