Replaced lower seal on my LB F engine. After 15 minutes of use I noticed it had worked its way off and slid down the shaft. Reinstalled after cleaning the seal area below the bearing and used some Permatex hard setting sealer to attempt to keep it from working out. I found that it again slid down the shaft. Maybe the seal it undersize? Got a pair off ebay from a small engine supplier...maybe aftermarket item rather than OEM. The seal has a blue coating around the OD. Anybody had this happen and any advise before I try a third time to install the seal. Obviously the fit is too loose in the housing. I used a thin-wall steel tube to tap it in which worked well. Thanks for any replies.

The blue stuff is sealer. A seal is delicate. You said you used a thin wall tube as a driver, which may have been difficult to perfectly match to the outer shell of the seal. A quick initial check is that the seal will only just fit into the chamfer of the housing and must be pressed or driven square to seat. If you have the means measure the od of the seal and id of the housing bore. Sould be different by ?.001" ? Check for egg shape. If you did not destroy the original check the od. Good luck.

I will mic the OD and ID when I get it apart again. It is not a deformity issue as it when in rather easily. I have spare as I ordered two so I can check OD of both.

thanks for your kind reply Motoman..!
