Lawn tractor choices?

Would love a zero turn to save some time or at least I think I would as I have never used one. But money is a big part of the decision. Between these mowers what are the good and bad points? John Deere D140, Husqvarna YTH24K48 or Cub Cadet LTX1045.

I am no expert, but when I was looking, I went about it like this:
1. Took a realistic look at what I was going to mow including size, frequency, obstacles, elevation changes.
2. Took a look at what I wanted to spend. I failed on this part and went way over budget..
3. I searched on this site for all the info I could find on each unit I was interested in. The folks on this site are pretty up front and honest in their reviews.
4. I went to the dealer websites to look at the specs and customer reviews. I also googled each one I was interested in for reviews on Amazon, Home Depot, etc.
5. I went to the dealers to look at each unit in person and get a feel for the dealership as well as the mower.
6. I made out a spreadsheet to compare the units and help make an informed decision.
7. You also have to take into account your ability and willingness to service the mower, or whether you are going to have the dealer take care of this. In my case I purchased online because I do all my own service, and would likely only go to a dealer for warrantee work. It helps that I also have a backup plan if the mower is out of commission for a few weeks.

You've already made a good start by asking the knowledgeable and helpful folks on this site!

Good luck in your search, and keep us posted.

Stay away from the junk Deere it's just a bad mower. Bogs down to easy just a bad design on the deck pulleys.

I don't know about the husky but they have always been good mowers.

The cub I like for tall thick wet grass. Good deck design never any grass build up under the deck.
Good on hills

(( racing is the only sport that you need two balls ))

Are you looking at all these at dealers or at a big box retailer. I wouldn't buy any of them from Lowes, Home Depot, etc. and I don't know much about JD or Cub lawn tractors. But I agree with user Carscw that the Husqvarna's(from a dealer) are some of the best bang for your buck. And that particular model(the YTH24K48 "Fast Tractor") has a prettty good record from what I've heard. It gets my vote, for what that's worth:0)!!!

Would like to buy from a dealer incase of any warranty issues. Would like to cut my time by getting a zero turn but don't want a low quality one.

I started out with a budget of $2500, but after several, "I'll just spend a little extra to get this...or that" episodes, I ended op at $3800... I'm not complaining. I love my new ZTR!

Which ones? About the cheapest thing around here I have found are Cub Cadets, and they seem built pretty cheap. Drove some cheaper mowers and they are jerking and don't handle very well. From what I have driven I would prefer to have at least the 2800 transaxles and most of those mowers are around $4000.
