Trying to find things to do with my new x720 with only 6 hours on it because I sure am not mowing the grass in this dry weather. So I took the deck off so I could grease it and just to see how to do it. Taking the deck off was very easy, JD did a great job designing it with handles on both ends, rotating the gage wheels 90 degrees and a hand hold in the back. But the 54" deck is HEAVY. I can imagine that the 62" is any lighter. Lessons learned; I am getting a come-along to lift the deck once it is out from under the tractor and I am building a wheeled carriage that fits into the where the back gage wheels go so that I can wheel the deck up right outside to power wash in the winter. Also learned that when John Deere recommends wearing gloves when working around the mower blades it is a good idea. They are sharp. Makes you glad that you're not grass.

Bummer!! Having that new X720 and not being able to use it would be torture.
