Hi I have a Troy bilt lawn mower that was working amazing before one week No problems I left it to sit after cutting my grass as always I came back the following week for my weekly routine of cuttin the grass but this time there was no spark so I tried changing the plug and still no spark then I removed the egnition coil and saw there was a lot of grass on the ground cable so I cleaned that off now when I pull the rope it sometimes makes a loud poping noise I think it’s a back fire or something please help

Are the coil legs 1 business card away from the flywheel magnets?
Is the kill wire insulation cracked/torn and you are killing spark? Pull wire off and look for spark.
Other: sheared the flywheel key.

Kill wire - if insulation is rubbed off, it could be making contact with metal (ground) and killing the spark. So, pull kill wire connector off the coil and then look for spark.

Yes, pull wire off. Pull plug and ground side on metal engine part. Look for spark.
