Pretty darn cool. The baler is not a great deal different than the old ram balers from the 19th century that ran off a belt from a steam engine and later a tractor. Cotton balers were like that as well, some with a hand operated screw press and others by steam powered ram. The rake works just like the old horse drawn hay rakes but those were pedal operated by a man riding the rake and a horse pulling it. My Dad had one that pulled behind a tractor that operated on a rope and boom a bit like yours does. How much do your bales weigh?

I don't know what a bale will weigh. I have not weighted one. Pine straw will be much lighter than hay though. That baler will pack a bale very tight but you do not want pine-straw especially long leaf packed that tight because it breaks it up so bad.

View attachment 11462 Looks good! How does it work (if you got to use it yet)?

I baled the bale that is in the baler yesterday afternoon. The baler worked great. The rake works but I have got to do something else to it because it is too easy to raise and therefore it will ride up over the hay before you are ready to dump it.
