I have a LA175 with the Briggs and Stratton 26hp engine. I started my mower and ran it for about 2 minutes before it quit on me. Now it will start with the aid of starting fluid. Then it throttles up and immediately throttles down and quits running. Will a safety switch cause this to happen? I have changed the fuel pump and filter and filled with new gas. Same result. Oil is new and level is good. Any ideas?

If the float bowl is full of fuel then as Rivets said, the cut off solenoid is No 1 in the suspect list.
If the float bowl is not full of fuel then check the pump is connected properly and the impulse line to the pump is clear.
If there is poor flow to the pump, check the the fuel tank is not colgged at the fuel outlet.
