LA120 won't move

HI, I'm new here and need some help. I purchased a used JD LA120 from FB marketplace. This is going to sound stupid, so a little background. I'm female, live alone and try to do everything myself. I hate to ask for help. The last riding mower I had was a Craftsman and my ex-boyfriend showed me how to use it. With this JD I am almost totally lost. So far it starts but won't move forward and I read something about the brakes being locked. Apparently, they do not make mower manuals titled "For Dumb Blondes". Can someone walk me through the start up and go procedure. It would be greatly appreciated. My grass is getting tall. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your replies. I found out how to turn off the brake and now it moves forward and the best part, it cuts grass. Thanks very much to Rivets for the user guide. I hope you all have a great day.

in answer to the question - whether it worked or not when she bought it used. If it worked the it was likely to be a learning issue. If it wasn't demonstrated as working, then it could be either a learning issue, or a mechanical issue.

Some of my customers do not know their riding mower has a brake you can set and leave the mower running and get off the seat. I show them and they say, “I never knew that.”

If unfamiliar to the machine, ask the seller to demonstrate it for you. Don't just buy the mower and take it home.
