LA 140 PTO Repair

I have a JD LA 140. Recently my PTO clutch will not dis-engage.. I'm not sure if the pto switch has just gone bad or the clutch itself.
I have a couple of questions listed below.:

1)How can I confirm where my problem is. (Switch or clutch)
2)If the clutch is bad how hard is it to replace. Can I do this job by myself?

Any help would be appreciated...

Easiest way to check the clutch is to unplug it and apply 12V to the clutch side of the plug. Make sure that you follow polarity, or you will ruin it. If the clutch engages, you will then have to check to find where you are loosing power. Removing the clutch is normally easy, unless it is frozen to the shaft.

See if the clutch dis-engages when you unplug the wire from the clutch. if it disengages then you have either a bad switch, or short some place allowing power to get to the clutch. if the clutch stays engaged with the plug disconnected then you have a frozen bearing in the clutch, and will need to replace the clutch. and like Rivet's said unless the clutch is stuck to the crankshaft, when you remove the retainer bolt should just slide off and possibly smash your fingers on the way down.

The clutch currently is engaged and the blades run all the time.

So if I unplug the clutch and and it continues to run then the clutch must be bad.
