Hello,

On my L118 lawn tractor (42-inch twin blade), the blades turn under engine power while disengaged. There seems to be plenty of slack in the belt, and it work fine while engaged. I'm running the deck at a medium height to keep the drive and blade pulleys as parallel as possible.

Thank you.

Hello NW1,

The first suspect is wrong belt or incorrect routing.

If they are trying to turn slow, but not up to full speed, the deck pulley brake is badly grooved and no longer holding.

Part #17 in the diagram.
