Hi all,

I have a 9yo JD L111. The Briggs and Stratton (Family: 5bsxs.7242vf model: 406577 type: 0139 E1 code: 040903YG) threw a rod on cylinder #2 and I'm wondering if a locally offered 16HP Kohler Vertical Shaft engine is a viable bolt-in replacement? If this is a possibility, any advice to making sure it will be a good purchase?

I'm in the process of tearing down the Intek engine, and am about to split the cases; but if I can just get her running with this engine it's probably cheaper and definately a quicker option.

Additional question; If the output shaft matches, will any B&S engine work if I'm willing to mess with wiring? You can use any engine you want does not even have to be a Briggs. You have about a 5% chance of finding one that will not bolt right on. Or that the shaft is not the same size.
