After noting a sudden power loss on my 2012 Kohler SV735, 350 hours, I checked spark on both sides (no issue) and compression. #2 was good at about 170, but #1 was erratic. I pulled the #1 valve cover and found the intake pushrod bent. The intake valve could not be opened by hand but the exhaust could. Looking at #2, both valves could be opened by hand. Deciding to pull #1 head, I found no evidence of piston collision, then removed both valve retainers. The intake valve had gummy deposits on its stem, and this was inhibiting smooth operation. Guides look good and haven't moved and seats are intact. After cleaning the intake stem, it operates smoothly. I plan to pull the other head, clean everything, replace the intake valve stem seals and reassemble both with new gaskets.
