Kohler Courage runs rich under load. Could this be because of a bad fuel selinoid?

No.

If you have just cleaned the carb and run wire through the main jet you may have enlarged it or even left it out all together ( we have all done it )
The head gasket could be blown.
The needle valve could be stuck, the float obstructed or leaking

But really you are not giving us much to work with
