Kohler courage repair

I have an SV 590, Kohler Courage engine, 19 hp. In the block there is a bolt and nut securing the guide pin holding the balance weight. It is discontinued from everywhere. I have searched the Internet, fairly extensively. I am attempting to engineer some other bolt to do it. Any suggestions? Or anybody got one lying around?

Are bolt & nut in bad shape?

Got the manual. Do not have access to the guide pin bolt which holds the balance weight together and secure in the block. Bolt kit is discontinued. Looks like I'm going to try a fastener company to replace the bolt.

Should notbe a problem.
Peen the nut over to prevent the bolt working loose and make sure you get grade 9 bolts.

Bought a 5/16x6" bolt, with a barrel nut that has a Phillips head. The original bolt was a soft metal, almost brass, with a torx barrel bolt, I think. I'm going to try that. It's a shame that Kohler discontinued the parts for this motor and their solution was to sell a short block for $600 to replace it. Money talks.

Bolt was bent inside the balance weight. Broke off when I tried to remove it from the weight. Nut was ok. I am replacing the bolt with a 5/16"x6" bolt and a Phillips barrel nut. I put the new bolt in the balance weight and it fits better than the original bolt. We'll see what happens.
