Kohler ch740

My Kohler ch740 gets rid of a small amount of oil but only in hot weather. (90 or higher). I currently use Kohler semi synthetic 10w-30. Would 30w effect the hydraulic lifters? Kohler newer command engines are using 20w-50 i read. How would this work? Thanks.

The 30w would be fine in temperatures above like 70 degrees, but can cause over pump of the lifters in cooler temperatures. The 20w50 is being recommended for the larger engines in the 38-40 hp range.
