Kohler 7000 Series

So it looks like I threw a rod today on a 7000 series and cracked the block. I was actually on a paved driveway looping around without a load on the motor when it happened.
Is it worth attempting to fix with a new block or is there another brand engine that can drop right in?
I am not having much luck finding anything that would drop in that is not a Kohler. Thanks in advance....

It will be cheaper to rebuild with a new block, but not by that much.

Any engine + or - 5 hp to yours will not make a wrinkled rats rectum to the mower so don't need to e too precious.
Alternator will swap off yours so forget about that as will all of the throttle controls
the only important thing is the length and diameter of the PTO shaft
