Why does small engine repair have to be so d*mn difficult!

How am I supposed to disconnect this wiring harness? In the attached picture, I have 5 wires going into a black thing. The entire black thing is NOT a connector. Does this mean I have to take the top off and go farther to find the connector???

Replacing the wiring harness because the d*mn mices decided to have a party and chew the wires. So, of course, see the thich black wire on the right side of the picture, that is connected to the spark plug? Exactly.

The wiring harness replacement that I ordered, 32 755 51-S, doesn't even have 5 wires on one end.

The plug wire (large black wire) usually comes attached to the coil, so you need a replacement coil. The other red wire with chewed insulation can be sealed up with a couple of coats of liquid electrical tape.

After that sprinkle red pepper around all of the area an put the cover back on.

Where are the 5 wires coming from? Which wiring harness has 5 wires going into this black thing?

I have to replace the harness. Other wires were chewed, too. So, the mystery of the "5 wires" continues.
 
First is the black thingy you referring to is this? If so it is a fuse holder.

IF you are referring to this, it a shrink tube protecting the wires as they enter near the flywheel.

As for the harness did you look up the harness per the engine's spec number before ordering the parts? As I don't see the starter lead; unless, your engine has an inertia starter and not a solenoid shift starter.

And my lord somebody finally called a remote starter solenoid what it is actually, a relay.

I must overlooked the engine spec number being posted...

KT-735-3056 uses the inertia starter so the blue wire will not be in the replacement harness as they changed the harness and they expert you to install the regulator wire terminal in the regulator connector housing after remove remove the old wire terminal. Purple wire.
