Kohler 597cc Revs HIGH

I have a Kohler 22 Courage, 597cc motor on my Troy Bilt Horse. Stated it one day and heard a sound and Rev Extremely HIGH, no matter where i put the throttle. Just replaced the throttle linkage and spring Tried to adjust the Governor. I can adjust the governor where it will not rev HIGH. But it Stays at that same RPM no matter where i adjust the throttle. Also there when you move the throttle lever up or down it does not move the Throttle Linkage at all. Is something supposed to also be hooked up from the Throttle arm and the Governor arm? Any Help will be appreciated and Fast. As my yard is starting to look like a Jungle. I am hoping to take care of this myself as i do not know Where to take it around my area to have it worked on.

The throttle makes the engine go faster
The govenor makes the engine go slower
Your govenor sounds like it is broken inside the engine.

Parts are not particularly expensive buy and the govenor is not difficult to remove.
