The engine has recently started leaking oil. I suspect the bottom oil seal? Has anyone had to replace the bottom oil seal?
I'm having a hard time finding info on a 20hp Kohler Magnum ( besides the manual which doesn't help )

From looking at the picture of the engine it looks like you will have to remove the engine. The seal looks like it sets deep down into the lower engine case. In which you will need split the engine to remove the old seal. Then you will need a seal driver to install the new seal.
Thank you for the response .
Has anyone done this job before?
Is there a bearing or bushing that might have caused the seal to go ? Or is this a common wear and tear item?

For the most part it is a wear and tear item. Kohler did have some issues years ago with electric clutches either shorting out or the early ones grounded through the crankshaft causing arcing. I haven't seen any lower crankshaft seal issues that resulting from crankshaft bearing issues on Kohler. I have had to change a few cranks and lower sumps on briggs though.
