I'm a new guy to forum. I am ashamed to have to ask this, But I put my Toro 30316 in the barn for a few weeks and that turned into 8 months. Yesterday I got it out and surprise surprise it wont start. I put some Seafoam in the gas yesterday. When I pulled the rope it would run long enough to burn the ether I was using out, then die. Before it would start on the 2nd pull every time. Should I pour out the gas with the Seafoam in it and start new? New plug? Rebuild carb? It has the Kawasaki engine. Thanks for replies.

Unfortunately you don't know what damage has been done by the old gasoline that was left in the fuel system. If the engine is running on ether but dies as soon as the ether is consumed then it sounds like the carburetor main jet may be plugged and not allowing any fuel to be metered by the carburetor. Again, you won't know until you open the carburetor and have a look inside. If you can't get seafoam-treated fuel to the problem area the seafoam won't be able to do its job.

Thanks, I'll dump the gas and clean the carb. Then put Seafoam in the fresh fuel. I appreciate your help.

Ok! So I followed the suggestions I received from the posters. Drained out all old gas, replaced fuel filter and removed carburator and pried jet out of nozzle. Soaked carb and other parts in Berrymans' then reinstalled. I added fresh gas and a new spark plug and now she runs great! Thank you for everyones help.
