One of my commercial customers brought me a fuel pump to replace on his scag. I asked him how much he paid for the fuel pump (from the dealer in town) he said it was over $400. He asked me how much I could get it for. Luckily, the part number was on the box it came in, so I looked it up that way.
But if I hadn't have had that box, I would probably not have been able to find it, because of not knowing the engine model number.

BTW, I found a genuine Kawasaki fuel pump, with matching part number for less than $200. I told the customer, I could get the part and install it for less than he paid for it at the dealership.

Fuel Injected Kawasaki Engine, engine family id KAXS.745N41B, basically a repackaged FD791D-DFI for a lawn mower manufacture. Figuring out the spec will be a little harder. 745 CC 26 - 29 hp

Well it is going to be either FD750D (30+ different specs) if carbureted or a FD791D (36+ different specs) if DFI (Digital Fuel Injected). Can't narrow it any further on this end.

This is why I record every piece of equipment's engine's model, spec, and serial when I first received the unit in for repairs. This has been a big help maintaining a customer's machine as those model, spec, serial number tags do disappear in use.
