Brand new motor, I installed everything ran fine. Customer brings back a week later and when you take the throttle all the way up it runs there for a few seconds and then kicks down. Full throttle is 3500 and kicks down to 3000.
IF the throttle cable moves all by itself the throttle control at the drive end needs to be tightened
IF it had a bolt pivot tighten the nut if it is riveted give it a smack with a nail punch
People spray the control thinking it needs lubrication but it is friction and need to be tight to resist the strength of the governor.
The spring on the governor is so strong that if you don't set the throttle control all the way to the wide open position where it goes past the detent it can back off like that. Have to set the Dixie Choppers and Big Dogs we sell like that. Had customer complain about this I talked to Dixie Chopper about this he said they make it that way so you would have to run it wide open. Or you throttle control is worn out.
