So I was cruising the local craigslist ads early Sunday morning, while having a nice bowl of cereal, when I came across a "scrap metal" ad. It described the usual scrap metal stuff and had a few photos attached; I noticed a familiar logo. "Holy cow, is that a Simplicity wheelbarrow?"

See attached photo as found.

Turns out, it was a Simplicity dump cart lumped in with a bunch of other stuff. I frantically texted the number asking how soon I could come over to inspect; it was 6:30 am after all and a bit too early to call.

I hit the garage as planned and replaced the drive belt on my 5216H along with some other stuff. 10:30 rolls around with no reply so I called and got the address; I ended up scoring the cart and a complete Snapper rear engine rider with a running 12hp Briggs for $50. A good find any day of the week in my book. :licking:

Absolutely! It will be this weekend sometime before time will allow it though. Funny thing how work gets in the way of fun stuff.

The Snapper has already been cannibalized and parts have been stored. The deck and rear end weren't worth saving (gone to the scrapper) and I have the engine on the stand so I'll try to shoot a short video of it starting up too.

Here you go!

I had already stripped the Snapper by the time I took these pics and the engine is mounted on my Super High Tech Advanced Technology engine stand. The engine was just started today for the first time in who knows how long; after cleaning the carb and changing the oil it runs great with no knocks or smoke. The last photo is my small shed where most of my relics reside.

Enjoy!

Nice full shed. Well I found a nice motor the other day on craigslist. Here is a pic of it. Got it home blow the dust out of it. Filled it with oil and gas, sprayed out the carb since it does not have a filter or cover on it. And it fired up on the 2nd pull. Anyone know what model Honda it is.

I couldn't find much by the number, but it's probably a GXV140. I had a Snapper RER earlier this year with an older Honda GXV270 (not original to the Snapper) and it was a sweet engine that ran super quiet.

I kicked myself in the tail many times for selling that particular mower after finding out that engine doesn't exist on ebay/craigslist. I the the smallest Honda riding mower engine now is the GXV340. I'll have another please! :licking:

Thanks I found it. It is the GXV140. That is a 5hp right?
