Hello, this is my first post so I am it sure if there a typical process making a post but I'll do my best to be right to the point to not belong winded but include some details/symptoms I feel might need to be considered .
I have a a S100 17.4 HP Briggs and Statin mover. Engine model 31R977 Type 06G1.
My adventure started with an issue where the mower engine was surging High and low non-stop. I read a lot about what could be causing it. I took the carburator off the mower and sprayed it out with cleaner and checked for any float issues or buildup. The jets seemed and clean. While at it unchanged the fuel filter and spark plug for good measure. I reassembled everything and it still ran the same way.
I ended up ordering a replacement non-oem carburator from Amazon. I put it in today and this engine is running WAY smoother BUT it's running at very high RPMs. The first thing I noticed was the changing the throttle arm made no difference at all. I can manually pull the throttle hinge back and it will idle down but it Pops back to running full wide open when I release it. I'm not expert at what all is going on and wanted to run this by much more knowledgeable folks before I proceed to make any further adjustments.
