John Deere Z355E fuel problem

Mower will run with fuel supplied on downside of fuel filter.Hoses are clear back to fuel tank,fuel doesn’t want to come from tank,hoses are clear.Trying to figure out how to remove housing holding vent,pickup tube on top of tank?
 
I'm not clear on what you're describing. Fuel won't come from tank, but the hoses are clear? Have you blown into the hose going to the tank? That will often loosen crud clogging the fuel pickup. Of course if it works, it means you need to clean the tank and fuel pickup.

Check fuel flow from tank, through filter, to carb. It should flow freely at all of those places. How old are the fuel lines? It's a good idea to replace them if you're having any issues with fuel flow. They break down on the inside, clogging things up, while looking ok.

Thanks.I tested from thru the fuel filter and runs fine,pushed fiberglass fish tape thru hose to tank,hose open,probably will get enough hose to replace all.I am thinking it must be the fuel pickup tube.Removed tank to empty out gas and clean.I tried a little to turn housing but didn’t want to break anything.

I have a borescope I will probably use to look into tank.I couldn’t get all the gas out, can easily remove tank again if need be.
It’s my 80 year old widow neighbor,we are rural,John Deere is usually backed up pretty bad,not to mention their labor rates.

On top of the tank is the fuel fill and the white round that hous the vent line,fuel pickup,and low level warning light power.I would think both are removable?

Yes I found out to pull the pickup tube straight up and out,maybe prying on it also?Looks like the round white piece has threads,does it not screw out?Also has arrows on each pointing toward it on the sides.Gonna put new fuel and vent line on tomorrow,pull pickup tube out and check for blockage.JD didn’t have one in stock.

There is plastic locking tabs on the fuel pickup that must be gently pry out as you put pressure on the fitting to raise it above those locking tabs. Here I have shop made tool for this but a regular flat blade screwdriver works too.

Just don't get to aggressive with the tabs or you break them off. As for the larger plastic piece since it is not available separately I never tried to remove it.
