The PTO on my JD Z425 stopped engaging. A hot wire to the PTO will engage the PTO without a problem. The safety switches for the engine run, I think, are in the same circuit that the PTO is in. The seat, left and right neutral arms, and the brake switches will all kill the engine at the expected times. Would you think anything but the PTO switch could be bad?
Like chance123 said ... they do fail... But that is an Easy continuity check with an ohm meter... or even a simple test light... I hate replacing things that are good, only to have to then check where the actual bad interlock or wire connector actually is located... :smile:KennyV
