John Deere STX38 Pulley misalignment

Thank you all in advance for your help.
I have a John Deere STX38 that my daughter has now that my dad bought back in 1989. Been well maintained, but this spring it needed belts, as the main drive belt kept jumped off the transaxle pulley. Went through the process of getting the deck off and replacing all the belts with Genuine John Deere belts. Anyway, got it all put back together and the main drive belt keeps jumping off. After further examination, the pulley on the transaxle is misaligned about a half inch too far towards the transaxle case. There are a couple of guide bars that help keep the belt on the pulley, but you can see there are in the wrong place. My first though was that my grandson ran over something and bent something, but there is no indication of that. My guess is that there is a bearing or bushing that has failed in the transaxle that has cause the pulley and shaft to slip down. Doesn't seem to make any noise, but with the amount of hours on this machine, I am not surprise that it has worn out. Anyway, just reaching out for opinions.

some mower decks rely on the thickness of the brake pad(s) to determine where the pulley sits. The geometry changes as the pad wears. Don't know if your mower is one of those.

Big difference between deck and motion drive problems. Peerless gear transaxle involved on both the Black and Yellow deck models.

One thing to check. Is the pulley installed correctly otherwords not upside down?
