John Deere L111 fuel issue.. What am I missing?

I have a John Deere L111 with a Briggs and Stratton 406577 engine.

The start of this season it did not want to start. I could get it to run off starting fluid but it would just not get running from its own gas.

In an attempt to work on it once and fix it I replaced the following.

Fuel Filter
699807 carburetor
Fuel pump
fuel lines

Everything was installed and we confirmed the throttle and the choke cable were opening and closing the flaps properly.

Upon completing the new part installations the tractor started right up.

I noticed that even as the tractor warmed up if I tried to open the choke more than a little the tractor would start stumbling and try and quit. It also didn't really have the power I know it had and would shut off easily when trying to mow. After shutting it off for a couple hours and trying to start it up again the engine will not start. Starting fluid will get it running for a short time and it just will not start.

Cranking the motor with the output of the fuel pump off shoots fuel out the pump. Oil looks good there is no gas i the oil.

Thoughts? Bad new carb or am I missing something here?

Ted,
Grab a pair of inline red spark testers.
\Check you are getting a consistant spark on both cylinders.
Double check that the fuel shut off solenoid in the carb is working
Remove the kill wires from both of the magneto coils
Problem goes away, bad wiring
Problem stays = bad coil.

Fuel solenoid is not clicking when I unplug it and plug it back in. A new one came it’s the new carb. I can’t figure out why. We’re trying to trace the wires back. I saw a video on filing off the post on it. Should I just do that with the one we pulled off and install that?

Filed off the pin in the old solenoid. I do have spark. Both magnetos resistance measured as expected with my meter neither were open. The fuel filter is clear and full of new gas. Fuel pump shoots gas out. Starting fluid in the carb will make it run for a few seconds then it dies. New defective carb maybe?

Pull the plug off and try it with the old solenoid.
Some of them are very quiet.
I usually put a finger on them to feel them acting because I can generally not hear them above the tinitus in my ears.
The wires run across the engine cylinder so can melt & short out , get chewed through by things nesting in there over winter.
Also some ground out through one of the tiny bolts that hold the lower air shroud onto the cylinder.
