I have some friends who are willing to give me 2 John Deere riders for a steal of a price. A D105 and L108. Both have not ran in a few months. The L108 has a charging issue which I believe can be a somewhat easy fix. The D105 I've been told has a transmission issue (no further info). I noticed there is a recall on that particular model but i think this one is a few years older than when that recall came out. Is there anyone out there that can tell me the following and help me decide if i should pay 150 bucks for both of these machines....
1) How interchangeable are the parts on these two riders?
2) If i have to repair the transmission what kind if cost for the repairs am i looking at?
One of the engines is worth more than that alone so you can not go wrong.
Tranny issues is not much of a description but once a hydro has gone, they are gone.
Occasionally changing the oil & using a heavier oil can get a few more seasons out of them but we need to know what the "issues' are before any advice can be proffered
