I am having problems with my John Deere D170 height adjustment lever.

When I try lowering the cutting height adjustment lever the lowest I can go is 2 1/2 even with the mowing deck off the mower.

Should I not be able to move the selector handle between 1 & 4 with no problems?

Whether the mowing deck is on or off it takes a good bit of strength to move the height adjustment lever from one slot to the other. I'm not sure if something is bent or not but it almost feels like there is too much tension on the spring associated with the height adjustment lever.

Has anyone ran into this issue before?

Thank You

I finally figured out why I could not lower the Height Adjustment Lever down below the 2 1/2 mark on my John Deere D170. At sometime in the past the MOWER DECK LINKAGE SHAFT (GY20608) had been knocked out of alignment which would not allow the Linkage Arm to pass the frame on the way down. I was able move the Linkage Arm back to it's original position which now allows the Height Adjuster to function properly.
