Towing john deere 245 hydrostat

I have a john deere 245 and a 320 and can not unlock the hydrostats on either one? Imove the lever to unlock and can not get the hydrostat to release for pushing or pulling the tractors. Would appreciate any suggestions to resolve this problem, Thanks in advance. C.D.Z.

You're not leaving the parking brake engaged, are you?... I've caught myself doing that

I had the same problem on my 245 I took the body off and and took the lever out and there is a nut I heated it up took the pin out and cleaned it up it was rusted put it back togeather works like new I can push the lever and push or pull my mower
