Hi all

Have a question concerning Kohler CH 12.5 Command. The engine will not start. I have rebuilt the carb. Electric fuel pump. It has good spark but still will not start. I got it to start one time ran smooth and good. But as a whole it just will not start and run.
Any ideas? I have even considered finding another engine but they seem to be rare, It resides in a Cub Cadet AGS2130?

Random suggestions:

Replace the spark plug, even if it is relatively new. I once had a plug "cold-fouled" by the junk in today's fuel. It would spark in air but run to ground under compression.

Remove the air filter and carb linkage. Close the choke by hand and open the throttle plate about 1/3. The Kohler is very cold natured and won't start unless the choke is completely closed. If it starts and runs, the choke adjustment is the problem.

If it still won't start, while the air filter is off, open the choke and spray a shot of starting fluid. If it starts with help, the carb rebuild is suspect. Does it still have a gas filter? Replace it just to be safe.

Have you replaced the air filter? I once saw one so plugged, it wasn't passing any air.

Thanks Jack
I have replaced the items mentioned. I did get it to run on starting fluid but it dies when the fluid is used up. So the carb is suspect still. I will try to locate another carb. I am not very good with carbs,

Do you have power at the carb fuel solenoid? Is it working proper?

The particular carb doesn't have a solenoid. I was curious if it should have one.

2130 is not to have a electric fuel pump. It should have a mechanical pump.

Would the Electric fuel pump prevent the mower from starting?

You can use a electric pump.
Just make sure you get a low psi pump.
You can get them at any auto parts store.
Just tell them you want a low psi inline pump.

It has to be for a carb NOT fuel injected.

Just a update on the AGS2130 I have it running. It seems that the suggestion of the electric fuel pump being issue was spot on. It had too much pressure. I removed it hooked the original fuel pump up. Fired and ran first time.

Thanks everyone for the help.
