The seat on my 2005 Kubota tractor is still pristine, except for a little dirt. The seat on my 2016 John Deere S240 riding mower looks like it was attacked with a machete--cracks, long splits--everywhere. Both are garage-kept. I'm the only one who drives either of them. So, A). Why is Kubota's seat so good but JD's is such cheap crap? and B). I don't want to pay $125 plus for a new JD seat. FlexSeal tape helps but won't lay down around all the curved surfaces on the seat. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I know what you mean by JD's seat covering. They don't seem to last. Rather than replace it with a new JD seat maybe reupholster it in the material of your choice.
We forked over the moolah for a new seat from JD back in 2017. They look nice but of course they sure aren't comfortable; takes me several steps before I can straighten-up and walk right ! ? But at the time, and still presently, there were many on ebay that looked authentic for half the JD price.
