Looking at a Deere gt235 with Briggs 18hp engine. Battery discharge light stays on continuously.
DC voltage at battery before starting at 12.5 volts, after starting engine and running full rpm voltage goes to 14 volts but light remains on. I don't have a wiring schematic so if anyone has one or any ideas about what would cause this I would appreciate any input.
Thanks

You don't say which Briggs engine you have, but almost all have the same testing procedure for the charging system. Read through the Alternator section in the manual below to see if everything is working properly. Depending on which charging system you have, I'm suspecting a bad diode or regulator.

Very good tech manual shown , that should help him out, I would like to add that on the key switch ' term 2 : should show battery voltage, and also check your specific gravity of your battery, ( make sure it's fully 100% charged ) If its a sealed lead acid battery it will show 12.8 volts at a full 100% charge / no-load @ 70 deg F.. It also , may be just a dirty contact on the key switch, if the charge lamp is ( seeing ) a more negative voltage on pin 2 ( that also supplies B+ ) to a fuel solenoid ; that may cause the lamp to glow dimly. But; the fist thing to do is check the batt and the alt output per the manual.
