Isn't manifold a misnomer?

I have a 16.5 HP B&S engine in my Murray lawn tractor. According to the B&S manual, the part connecting the carburetor to the cylinder head is call the intake manifold. However, a manifold is defined as "a pipe or chamber branching into several openings.". Since there's only one opening, shouldn't it be call a unifold or something indicating that there's only one opening?

If you knew what they were talking about, they have named it correctly. English teacher rooms are above the engine shop, where the exhaust fumes jumble the adverbs.

In the one-dimensional Uni-Hole-Fold there are an infinite number of dimensions, so it would theoretically be called a "Multi Universal Fold" :thumbsup: :laughing:

According to Wikipedia, a manifold is a topological space that near each point resembles Euclidean space.:confused::smile:
