Inconvenient Truth

This is a sad picture of my back yard as of this morning. This is what a 15 inch snow fall looks like in April. Things were looking promising a few days ago. I was even considering “summerizing” my snowblower. My Lawn Boys will be remaining in hibernation for a while yet.

Message to that so-called “scientist” named Al Gore: HERE IS YOUR INCONVENIENT TRUTH!!! If you think the globe is getting hotter, I invite you to buy a house here and make yourself at home.

At least I'm a scientist and can actually understand that it's due to the redisruption of global weather patterns. You can't take one area on the planet and make conclusions regarding Global warming.

MORE ... of the "LIBERAL" B/S !!

OH—but you fail to see that this is all brought on by the over abundance of 2 stroke powered lawn mowers. LOOK OUT—the sky is falling!!!!!! :confused2::confused2:

I remember the first "Earth Day". April 22nd, 1970.
Back then we were told that the Earth was cooling down.
This year, in honor of Earth Day 2018 (Sunday), I'm gonna' run all my 2 cycle equipment at 8:1.
Who's with me?

It's one thing to be ignorant, but to be so ignorant that you actually advertise your ignorance is another matter entirely.

TO be fair Darryl,
Both side of the arguement have been so selective with the data they they chose to spruke to make any predictions questionable
Both side have happily made outlandish predictions and supported those of idiot morons and when they don't happen, doubt happens
Both sides have exagerated their positions to a level of lunacy and Joe Average end up feeling some one is trying to pull the wool over their eyes.

And most people being relative conservative , lazy & greedy they revert to the default position- when in doubt do nothing.

So by the whole thing has degraded to the Ford Vs GM level which is a shame because the consequences will most likely be catastrophic.
This is why I took the very conservative "peeing in your own drinking water , farting in a room approach and pooing on your plate approach" .
Most people can associate with that and then you have the yuck factor.

While in theory you are quite correct , if every house in the entire USA had a 2 stroke mower, and they all ran them for a full 24 hours, the overall enviromential consequences would be almost impossible to measure.
It would equate to about one hour of the pollution from any one of your medium sized domestic airports.
However the bulk of the population see 2-strokes as dirty, smelly noisy things that smell bad & make their eyes sore , so on a mental level, not a good idea.
If Joe public does not like something and a regulator decides to ban it then Joe public will support the ban with glee.
If the regulator uses all sorts of sham science or strait out BS to support the ban then again Joe Public will believe it is all true.

On Earth Day, I'm tempted to fill my windshield washer reservoir with ATF or diesel fuel and re-route the lines to the carb.

Some mighty smoke screens can be laid down, especially in front of EPA headquarters. It'll put Buck Russell's old Galaxie to shame.

I have no problem with those who wish to debate or refute the projected affects from global warming, but those who claim it isn't real are plain clueless IMO.

Darryl, being you are a scientist, with NO INTENT of ill-will and in true sincerity, may I ask your opinion of any information related to HAARP or DARPA, long ago, I was extremely curious about these programs and eventually dismissed most of it as a "Black-Hole" - "Slush-Fund"... to extort TRILLIONS of taxpayers dollars into the pockets of government, that continues to baffle us with B/S, on avast array of items they have conjured up.

It is no longer called Global Warming but Climate Change. I think this is a much better set of words. As it is no longer as scary as it used to be. And it is much more accurate of the naming of the process that is taking place on this earth. The climate has been changing for as long as the earth has been here. It will not stop if and when man is gone. Hopefully, nothing man is going to do is going to change the course of the natural order of the earth. I can think of a few things that would set this world on its head and I hope none of them ever happen. Well, there you have it MY lowly .02 worth. Remember everyone we all live on this 3 rock from the sun and we can make it suck or try to make it better!!!

That the climate can, and is, changing is not the point.

The point is that there are climate change fanatics, most of whom have never earned a private sector dollar or had to comply with a government regulation, whose goal is to have this country, with 5% of the world's population, tax and spend itself into oblivion trying control the climate of the entire planet.

Not going to work. A pointless, expensive exercise in futility.

To my knowledge HAARP was just remote atmosheric sensing technology. Don't know about DARPA or any of the specifics of either program.

It's the rate of climate change at the present that is extraordinary and unprecedented and there's pretty sound evidence that humans are the cause. But if it weren't for that we would likely be heading back into an ice age, lol. But one large volcanic eruption or meteor strike could change it all, as it has in the past.

I'm an environmental scientist and not an environmental wacko or fanatic. I readily admit that some of the environmental regulations are ridiculous. I had a client who actually contaminated his property and an adjacent one above the State standards with TAP WATER! And the naturally occurring concentrations of nickel, cadmium and chromium in my state often exceed the State standards. Ridiculous! I was the go-between between the private sector and the regulatory agencies in my former career.

DARPA isn't a program. It's one of thousands of government agencies charged with the task of making taxpayers' dollars vanish without a trace.

They're quite good at it.

YEs regulation dreamed up by people who failed science when they were 12 and never did any more is a problem.
I too fell foul of these non realistic regulations with regards to our lab waste water which had to be pH 7.1 to 6.9 but becuse of all of the chlorine used to prevent alge growth in the pipelines in summer , the summer pH was around 7.6 thus it was illegal for the lab to discharge tap water , and that was before the Chlorine , iron & zinc contents .

The other big problem with Americans is they seem to think the "WORLD" consists of the bit between the Atlantic Ocean & the Pacific Ocean.
So there was snow in the USA so warming is all BS, however down he we just recorded the hottest 12 months , the hottest April day ever recorded , the hottest November day ever recorded , the longest run of days over 45 deg (113 for the scientific illeterate ) the longest run and widest spread of days over 40C ( 104 F ).
The farm where I have my workshop has recieved less rain this year than last year and last year was the driest year on record for this area.

If you can read and understand what you are reading then you will have noticed it was AVERAGE global temperatures are rising, not every temperature.
You will also remember one of the predictions was an increase in the severity and frequency of violent storms.
And thisyer there has been more Hurricanes ( includes cyclones ) and more tornados that ever recorded.
The Hurricanes you lot got have been some of the strongest ever recorded .
Sound like the climate people have got it fairly well down pat.

The really hard bit for clots to unerstand is WEATHER is what you see outside your window
CLIMATE is what you see outside your window on the SPACE STATION.

3 points for Bert, lol.

FYI the problem with my client contaminating the groundwater with tap water was that the standard for Chloroform in drinking water was 100ppb and the standard for groundwater on his property, meant to protect it for use as drinking water, was 10 ppb. His lateral from the road to the building leaked and caused a "release" of the tap water which had about 70ppb of Chloroform in it. The problem was also chlorination. The water source used by the water company is a reservoir which has some dissolved organics in it. Chlorinating it creates trihalomethanes, of which Chloroform is one. According to the regulations it would actually have been illegal to water your lawn with the city-supplied water, but it was supposedly safe to drink. :confused2: There is now an exemption in the regulations for groundwater contaminated by tap water, but there wasn't at the time.

Quite the thread. Did'nt the axial tilt a bit more than usual a few years back? Myself, I like the spring warming up slowly, rather that going from winter to summer in a matter of weeks. This years weather reminds me of the of the springs we had 30 years ago. I did read a book from early explorers in America and in the 1690's they had noticed cold weather and snow on the Va.Appalachians in June.

This whole thing about climate change will still be around long after our generation is "gone", mankind will NOT give up the internal-combustion engine devices, chemicals, manufacturing, building practices, etc., etc., etc. we have to come to depend upon for our daily existence and I don't foresee us controlling the weather anytime soon, it IS, what it is!! As usual, the weather is just something to talk about. ..
