After a lot of research here and elsewhere I splurged and bought a Toro 20099 with the Kohler engine.
1) Due to many factors and I know it's a bad idea but, I just had to cut my yard after 3 weeks. Tried it at the normal setting (~3 inches); in some areas the grass was was 8 inches tall. Sure, I had a little clumping on turns and when I stopped to move lawn furniture, but it never stalled or clogged. What a beast!
2) I just got a recall for three transmission screws that may cause a problem. For my inconvenience, they are extending my transmission warranty another year, to a full 6 years. Seeing as how that was what failed on my last (non-Toro) mower that caused me to be in the market, I love it.
Will post later on how my dealer handles my recall during the summer busy season.
I feel it was well worth the money. Of course now I'll want to throw down another $100 for the best tires when I need new ones, buy the most powerful welder when I buy one, etc.
