Hustler super Z 2005 s/n 927038. I repaired an oil cooler leak. Hopefully installed the lines back to original. Dummy did not take before pictures. Ran mower for about 30 minutes. Using an infrared thermometer it reads 200 degrees on each pump. Cooler fan is good but of course very hot air on exhaust side. I use 15W50. Does anyone have a picture of the cooler lines and what temperature should the pumps get to. Runs fine but thinking temperature is too high. I read that 15W50 is good up to 220 degrees. Thank you

Yes sir. I had them apart and cleaned both of them with air and a toothpick.

I have never checked the temps but I do know the exhaust from the radiators is quite hot on the one across the street.
As far as line routing its quite simple. Each has an input from the pump it is attached to and a return to oil tank. Say the LH side pump goes LH side one radiator and the other side to the oil tank. The RH side goes to the other radiator.

The optimum (best) temperature operating range varies from oil to oil - ie depends on how its been formulated by the chemical engineers.
For best advice on this, check with your hydraulic oil manufacturer.
In my limited experience;

In my limited experience;
- 93 C (200 F) is a nice, slightly cool, temperature.
- 104 C (220 F) is getting up there, but still well within normal range.
- 100 C (212 F) is desirable,at least once in an operating day, to drive off any water vapour/condensation that may have contaminated the oil.
If you suspect metallic or other contamination, the lines and cooler must be replaced.
Probably full of air causing cavitation heating up the oil.

If using a synthetic like Mobile One then it is good up to 500F. But is best up to 130C (266F) for short periods. Above that is starts oxidizing and breaking down [rate depends how high]; although, not part of the specs from Mobile. Of course it don't start boiling until 600F.
