Newbie here, mikky, living and working in gorgeous Scotland, in the UK.
Thank you for accepting me onto your forum!
Anyone interested in Suffolk Punch machines?
Specifically the Suffolk Punch 35 DL?
I cannot see any of the British Lawn Mowers in the listings on here, the like of Atco, Qualcast and the Suffolks, but maybe i've not looked hard enough yet!
Be glad if people with these machines got in touch with me, as i have just been given a 35 DL from a work mate and i would like to know more about it and the history of the company.
My intent is to give this mower a full ground up restoration starting early in the new year, when time permits, so i may be picking a few 'mechanical brains' too!
I'll leave it there for now, to see if i get any responses from anyone and.....thank you once again for accepting me on the site!

This forum is fairly set on maintenance of reasonably recient mowers and slanted more towards American ride ons , which is why I am here.
However you might find some kindred souls on the Vintage mower forum http://vintagemowers.net/
You will not find much on Atco, Qualcast and the Suffolks here because apart from a few than came down from Canada very few would have made it into the USA.
UK mower companies were way too small and way too inefficient to compete with modern USA factories run on proper mass production principles.
Specialists brands like Ransomes did get imported to maintain football fields & baseball diamonds.
So most of the mowers you play with would be found in old Empire coutries where the UK enjoyed protected exporting & thus was competative with local makers.

@bertsmobile1 Well i suspected that i may have been on the wrong site for my little piddly 'empire' mower but i thought i would check it out just in case!

Nothing wrong with most Atcos , Qualcast and Suffolks all good mowers.
The problem was how they were made which simply made them too expensive outside Empire countries one which you might have noticed I reside in.
In the shed are a couple of Adcos with BSA's on them, one day I will dig them out.
OTOH on Vintage Mowers you will be talking with kindred souls who can talk engine variations & model numbers.
I was expecting to see you there last night .

British mowers in the USA were on par with USA mowers in Scotland.
Who do you know that mows with a Lawn Boy ?
