I see in your profile your mower is a Snapper... But this post is titled "hustler"... hmmm...
Also you mentioned that "It rained really hard last nite about 9am"
So now I'm getting confused, did it rain last night on your snapper mower, or this morning about 9am on your hustler?
Both are good mowers But...
In any case if it rained on either of your mowers, there may be water in the key Switch causing the switch to short out.... also possible for relays to take on water shorting out starter control circuits...
We also have had a Lot of rain the last couple of days, but most of my equipment has cabs on them, keeping everything dry.
You will likely needto use compressed air and some WD40 to dry out all your electrical components. :smile:KennyV

More than likely the water made contact with the 2 large wires on your starter solenoid and just turned the engine over. Because of the safety switches and the key in the off position, it would turn over but not start.
