Hustler steering issue

I have a hustler zero turn and today the handles became very loose feeling. There is no resistance when going forward or backwards but everything works fine. What could this be?

Go to Hustler & download the parts book
Locate the two dampers that go on the end of lap bars.
They have either failed or come loose
