Husqvarna ZT254 Blades Won't Start

While I was mowing my lawn on a flat not-bumpy surface with my ZT254, the blades stopped turning. The blade switch was still up. The mower continued running as normal but the blades would not engage.
I traced the wiring to the clutch and there's no sign of wear. The wiring connector for the blade clutch behind the starter does not have power to the clutch from the switch when activated. It's an open circuit regardless of switch position. Applying 12v from the battery directly to the wiring to the clutch I hear the clutch engaging so I think it's good.
I swapped out the blade switch with a new one since it was easy but no change.
I know the seat switch will keep the motor from running but, in this case, the mower is running fine. The blades just won't engage. Any thoughts?
It's been a good mower but troubleshooting safety systems and issues like this is difficult. Straight wiring w/o safety circuits would be preferred. Thanks
 
Let's try that it is either a Z 254 or Z 254F.

Manual indicates there is a purple wire at the PTO switch. Is there voltage at that point with the ignition switch in run mode?
 
Does it have a reverse implement (deck PTO) cutout switch?

I will not offer any bypass suggestions due to professional ethics. Safety switches are there for a reason. Accidents and injuries do not happen on purpose.
 
as StarTech suggested. Look for voltage at the purple wire at the PTO switch. If not go back to A1 on the main switch. Does the hour meter run. It gets its power the same place according to the wiring diagram. No one disconnected the hour meter did they?
 
Yes, there is full battery voltage on the purple wire at the PTO switch with the ignition in run. Hour meter is on.
Zero volts on the blue coming out of the switch with the engine running and PTO activated. Says switch issue to me or an interlock not met?
If the engine is not running and the PTO is on, the purple wire drops from 13v to 9v. Checked the blue wire disconnected from the clutch for a short to ground and it does not.

Thanks. I'll check each wire starting with those landing on the PTO switch. Your wiring diagram will help a bunch.
Apologies to the purists, in the meantime I added a toggle switch and hot wired the blade clutch to the battery. Got a lot of rain and need to mow now. Worked well but don't want to leave it that way if I can help it.
