Husqvarna RZ3016 seat safety switch does not work.

I bought this mower new back in 2016 and due to my not thoroughly checking it out, the seat safety switch has NEVER worked and was out of warranty before I realized it. So, a year or so ago, I replaced the switch but that changed nothing. The only time that switch functions is when I take it out, hold it in my hand and operate it manually. Both the old and replacement switches are genuine OEM parts.

In case it matters, the seat, itself, is in excellent condition as it has always been parked in my carport or basement and has never been exposed to weather and has no cracks or tears and looks like new.

Suggestions?

Okay by saying it has never work are you saying doesn't kill the mower when you are off the seat or is another problem. Needs to clarify this one. And need to which other safeties are working or not working to trace the wiring schematic.

The only condition under which it works as it should is when the seat switch is moved from under the seat, held in my hand and it is operated manually by pressing and releasing the button with my finger. When I press the button, the engine starts and runs as it should. When I release the button, the engine shuts off.

To be clear, the switch is still in the electric circuit during the above scenario.

All other safety switches work as they should.

Then if it is allowing you to start and run the mower when installed in the seat and your are not on the seat then the seat is depressing the switch assembly.

If this is the case then you got how to relieve the pressure on the switch assy when you are not on the seat.

Surely, I cannot be the only person who has experienced this. Is there a recommended fix for this?

so it never ran, because that is what you are implying? Or it doesn't work sometimes? None of us read minds well.

Evidently, you did not read the title and/or the two posts I made above. Sarcasm is unappreciated and unhelpful.
